The Impact of New EV Battery Designs on Thermal Interfaces and Their Materials

Case Study

Thursday, March 26

02:40 pm - 03:10 pm

Live in Munich

Less Details

The EV industry is now on the verge of mass popularization. Severe competition is found among automotive OEMs and battery manufacturers for longer range, faster charging and discharging, longer lifetime, and sustainability. Innovation of battery designs is one of core drivers of this innovation. The last 5 years have witnessed unprecedented progress of battery designs, which are represented by cell-to-pack, cell-to-body, cell-to-chassis, structural batteries, etc. Minimalism is based on fewer parts for more space, competitive cost, and production efficiency. This, in turn, influenced the thermal interface, and then related materials. In this presentation, the trend in EV battery designs will be reviewed and insights how thermal interface materials should adapt to the trend will be provided.

This presentation will give you insights into:

  • Some key design aspects of new EV battery structures
  • How thermal interface design changes following EV battery design trend
  • The impact of state-of-the-art EV battery designs on the performance of thermal interface materials
  • How thermal interface material technology evolve along that of EV batteries
