Mr. Luke Hu co-founded Electroder, a World Economic Forum Global Innovator specializing in enabling battery design and manufacturing. He is a steering committee member of Global Battery Alliance’s Battery Passport and Circularity Critical Material.
Mr. Hu has been leading his team completing various cell development projects, developing advanced software tools, and building new manufacturing capacities. He has two decades of experience in manufacturing and technology, and held a variety of engineering and management roles in China, USA and Europe. Mr. Hu graduated from Cornell University and Beijing University of Technology.

The journey of electric vehicles has always lived with criticism and doubts on time for charging. Things are quite different today than ever, with game-changing technologies and products that can enable 60% of charges in 5 minutes. But, how did we get here? Battery cell is an, if not the most, expensive and critical component for electric vehicles. From its born, the market has been calling for shorter charging time. Tesla used to lead the market by pushing the boundary to 2C with its innovative 21700 cells. Today 3-5C peak charging is becoming mainstream in China market, both NMC and LFP, while the latest premium products could achieve above 10C. In Europe, automotive OEMs need a better understanding of the trends and new cell manufacturers need to develop faster charging cells to compete in the market.
