Sustainability is a key component of any future e-motor design, and to achieve net zero goals, circular economy strategies must not be an afterthought, but an integral part of the design conversation. This talk will discuss some of the challenges that need to be overcome, as well as opportunities that are presented by rethinking the way that e-motors are designed and manufactured. Topics that will be discussed include the use of energy efficient near-net-shape manufacturing routes; the implementation of ‘Design for’ strategies to promote optimal disassembly, reuse, and remanufacture; and the development a circular economy approach that uses data driven intelligence to select the appropriate intervention strategy at the optimal point in the products life cycle. Combining these approaches will not only ensure a more sustainable product, but will also provide additional benefits by opening up the design space for next generation motors. In this session, you will learn,
