With Electric Vehicles on a slow ramp-up phase, the concentration is now on the safety of electric powertrain. Safety first by design belongs to the main criteria that we should have to ensure reliable functions. The ISO 26262 standard helps in these areas. With electric powertrain taking CenterStage the task of Functional Safety and its assessment in a function and the system and in turn the vehicle become more important. Safety Goals shall be derived for an item which leads to the functional safety requirements needed to avoid an unreasonable risk for each hazardous event. In this session, we will present the feasibility of safety analysis with an example covering the overview of the safety specification, evolution of vehicles, addressing challenges to the electric vehicles.
